Ealing IAPT : Improving Access to Psychological Therapies

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, now known as Ealing IAPT, under the West London Mental Health Trust provides the current range of evidence-based primary care mental health interventions within Step 2 and 3 of the Stepped-care Model.

Self-Help

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) support people with Mild to Moderate, common mental health probelms such as depression and anxiety using Guided Self-Help. People will be assisted by telephone or with face to face sessions using brief |CBT interventions, problem solving, psychoeducation, information giving and signposting to alternative sources of support.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

For People with Modertae to severe mental health problems the service offers face-to-face sessions with a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. The therapists work alongside clients to help change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviours that are causing or maintaining current problems. This involves practical exercises or ''experiements'' worked on either with the therapist or as homework tasks. We also provide Couples Therapy.

The service also offers specialist psyco-educational courses such as:

  • Mood Improvement
  • Anger Management
  • Stress Control
  • Low self-esteem
  • Mindfulness CBT (for depression associated with long term conditions and relapse prevention)

Please book an appointment with your GP if you feel that you need to be referred to the Ealing IAPT service.
